When Was Your First Kiss?

When Was Your First Kiss?

Save for the sloppy, careless ones we receive from childhood playmates, my first kiss was from a boy who was largely considered the “campus crush” back then. He was tall, very handsome, intelligent and the captain of our school’s men’s volleyball team. He was popular not only within our school but in our city, too, as he was always garnering trophies here and there - from finishing a marathon to leading our school in various campus meets to being able to travel from our city to a far away one just by bicycling! Yes, he was near perfect.

How to Keep Your Date’s Juices Flowing: Don’t Talk Boring

Now that you have managed to set a date with that cute guy on the building that you have been batting your eyelashes on, or if you’ve finally had the guts to ask your dream girl out on a date - how do you make sure that everything goes well with the first date conversation?

The trick is to keep things light, be yourself, think fun and talk about the basics. After you have covered some basic grounds like what the other person does and knowing a little bit about his or her family - start asking about the fun questions. Hobbies are a great way to start a fun conversation, and it lets you know whether the two of you have anything in common. Also remember that those natural pauses on the conversation are the perfect timing for some body language. Don’t panic if things go silent for a little while, smile and flirt with your eyes or you body!

Finally, always keep the focus on your date and do not talk about yourself the whole time. Your date conversation should be fun, short and flirty - save all the heavy stuff for later!

7 Ways to Add Some Spice into a Long Distance Relationship!

“Distance makes the heart grow fonder”. Wrong! Your long distance relationship needs work. There isn’t going to be any ‘fonder’ if you just let it hibernate. So sit up and read these great tips on how to spice up your love life from across the miles!

Instant messaging

Right from Yahoo to MSN to AOL there are a number of ways to IM each other! So make use of technology. It’s free! Think of creative way to express your love. Don’t let out of sight be out of mind!

“Having gone through this Long Distance Relationship (or LDR as they call it) made me realise how important communication is in a relationship…All in the name of love, couples would do everything and all effort to keep communication going. And only then can an LDR work.”

Marie, Gorgeous Traveler

Puzzles that intrigue

Everyone loves a puzzle. Send your loved one a personalised puzzle that will get him thinking of you. If you want him to stay focussed on you then ensure he’s thinking about you. Get creative with your puzzles and keep them centred on your relationship.

Personal calendar

Even if you have photo phobia this idea is worth the risk! Pull out old photos of you as a couple. Pick the ones where you both are smiling or just plain happy. Get them enlarged. Use cardboard to make a fancy handmade calendar with the photos. Now it’s picture perfect!

By nature I’m an optimist so I do believe that LDR’s can work. However, the people involved have to be very deliberate about making it work. Stay positive!

Food delivery

If he likes your apply pie then use it as leverage! Which guy can resist a home delivery of home cooked food! Or if he’s really that far away get a restaurant to deliver the dish. Then you can use a webcam to share this moment together!

Your songs

If there’s a popular radio station that he tunes in to every morning, get the DJ to dedicate a song to him. This works best on special occasions especially if you can meet him in person.

Online greeting cards

Online greeting cards are a great way to express your love for each other. These are free and can be sent in a few minutes. You can choose from innumerable categories and messages. Remember to add a personalised note!

Old emails

Remember your first emails to each other? If you still have those around then print them out and place them in a pretty folder. Segregate them month-wise so he can relive those memories even when you are not around.

Same time movies!

Even if both of you are apart it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun at the same time! Try catching up on the same movie at the same time - even if it means odd hours for you! It’s the thrill of it that counts!

Something that you can do so it feels more like you’re together, my bf and I sometimes watch the same TV show/movie while on the phone with each other.

Sara Hacker

It’s amazing what your imagination can do for your love life, if you just let it! The idea is to create a feeling of togetherness even if you are not physically present. Communication is vital so don’t let silence fill up the space between you. Even if it’s a simple phone call, make it count!

There is no long distance about love, it always finds a way to bring hearts together no matter how many miles there are between them.

So even if you are in a long distance relationship it does not have to be dull. You can spice it up nicely and add a splash of romance! Bring out your creative spirit and let it run wild!

My Fruitless Search for Mr. Exactly Right

My Fruitless Search for Mr. Exactly Right

Being the hopeless romantic that I am, I’ve always thought that it is a must for every girl my age to compose a list of qualities for Mr. Right to have. I had this entire list of items for age, education, income, height, body type, hair color - I even had it pat down to religion! Little did I know that by limiting myself to a list of qualities that my kind of guy should have - I was ruining my chances for complete and utter happiness. The flings and sort-of-relationships that I had were doomed from the start due to my expectations of what a guy should be - instead of appreciating what we have together.

Now, I still have that must-have-qualities-list - but they’re a lot broader. What I am looking for - instead of Mr. Exactly Right - is Mr. Just Right. I am wiser enough to know now that sense or humor, warmth, sensitivity, honesty and integrity are the non-superficial qualities that count, which also makes a relationship work.

Is Zodiac Compatibility a Myth or Reality?

Is Zodiac Compatibility a Myth or Reality?

I remember the days when I used to religiously follow my horoscope in the daily newspaper just for fun. I am not really much of an astrology buff, but my friends and I had a blast co-relating our horoscopes for the day to something which is even the teeniest bit significant to the ‘prediction’.

Being an Aries, it was also interesting for me to know whether I am astrologically compatible with my special someone. According to the charts, an Aries goes well with someone who was born under the signs Leo, Sagittarius, Gemini and Aquarius. It would have been weird if I immediately asked the men that I went out with what their birth sign was during the first date so I waited until the relationship was going along nicely to learn about their birth dates.

So far, I have had a couple of quite-long relationships with a Leo and a Capricorn. I did have a lot in common with Mr. Capricorn but it was the ‘Leo’ guy whom I felt more deeply about. Whether or not it was a result of our signs working well together or not- I have yet to find out because I’m still with the Leo guy! Is our relationship written on the stars or not? We’ll see.

My Idea of My Ideal Man

My Idea of My Ideal Man

When I was a teenager, I had this stringent list of what my ideal man should be: handsome, well-off, caring, understanding, God-fearing, intelligent - ” I could have gone on and on then about what qualities my partner should have. However, as I grew older, I realized that I could never really find a real person who met all these sterling qualities.

Building a my-ideal-man-list is much like this e-mail that I received which made me laugh out loud, it’s entitled “My Ideal Man Checklist”. At age 22, the checklist goes much like the list that I had above. Another revised list is made at ages 32, 42, 52, 62 and by the age of 72 there are only a couple of items on the list: that the man should be breathing and not miss the toilet!

As funny as the e-mail was, it is true” as you grow more mature, your original list of ‘requirements’ for an ideal man will be revised. Now, all I am looking for in an ideal man is one who can be both a best friend and a partner in life, and someone who will love me as unconditionally as I love him.
