Remember that Britney Spears’ misdemeanor case that we blogged about just recently? A recent development is that the case has been declared a mistrial.
Britney was charged in California for driving without a license, and after 3 days of deliberation – they all concluded that they just wasted their time. The mother-of-two singer had a valid Louisiana license during the time of her arrest, and the jurors cannot reach a unanimous decision on a verdict.
According to E!News:
After five votes, the jury foreman confirmed they were deadlocked 10-2 in favor of acquitting the pop star…”A lot of people had their minds set from the beginning,” he said, adding that many of his fellow jurors agreed that the trial was a waste of time. He also said that the main sticking point for the panel was the issue of residency versus domicile, something the jury took to the judge earlier today.
Yaiks! So the entire trial and all that paparazzi buzz was just a waste of time. And what the heck is residency versus domicile? Why can’t Britney’s lawyer just say – shit happens – and have the whole thing over and done with?
