My Experience:

I live in a hot climate so I’m always on the look out for good waterproof mascara that won’t melt off on the afternoon heat. I’m also a swimmer so I need really tenuous mascara I can trust so I don’t emerge from the sea looking like a monster! The downside of waterproof mascara is that it doesn’t usually do a good job of thickening or volumising due to the ingredients needed to make it water-resistant. I found this Bourjois mascara did an average job at creating volume, but once again it could never compete with some of the non-waterproof volumising mascaras! It didn’t smudge despite my lengthy dip in the sea and there wasn’t any clumping on application. This is a trusty waterproof mascara but is lacking in other abilities.
