Since we just moved here eight months ago we haven’t bought a lot of stuff for the condo. We finally splurged out sixty dollars and bought a DVD player last week! Embarrassed shuffle. The last people on Earth!

So far we rented The Queen and Borat. For someone who is a film person, why haven’t I seen any recent movies? Well, we have no family help to babysit. So all these months we’ve been missing out on obnoxious popcorn munchers and big heads plopping down in front of us in the theater.

This is how ancient I felt. We were in Blockbuster and I noticed that there were no VHS tapes in sight! Or perhaps the London Blockbuster we belonged to is archaic because in that shop, they carried only VHS tapes. Don’t be surprised. I’ve seen rusty pre-war medical equipment in the doctors’ offices.

Any recommendations on what films to rent?
