Mineral Foundation: Miracle or Mindnumbing

By Amanda Flechtner

There is a dust storm billowing out of almost every beauty store and bathroom these days due to the ever growing popularity of mineral foundations. I don’t seem able to pick up a shiny, well marketed, feature enhancer without seeing “mineral” smiling up at me from the box. So what gives? Why all the mineral madness?

Hey, Married Ladies!

This is my first blog that I am publishing… so I wanted to start a blog about marriage, especially second marriages and beyond… so let’s give this blogging thing a try!

I know that many of us are married, or have been married, some more than once. Every marriage brings with it it’s own set of, let’s say issues, circumstances, problems, challenges (yes, that’s a better word).

Frenemies

By Tawaba Coleman

“False friends are worse than open enemies.”
-Scottish Proverb

There’s even a Sex and the City episode entitled “Frenemies”

Yep, it’s true!

A Frenemy is someone who originally wants to be your friend and is your friend – in the beginning. BUT some how some way they turn into this fake friend. They for whatever reason become unhappy with their lives. So, they figure out the best, easiest target to take it out on – YOU.

Relationships, Real Men and the Parents

Relationships, Real Men and the Parents

By Dia Morena

I found myself sitting around listening to sad love songs, feeling sorry for myself. My mother would be so ashamed. She’s from that generation of “real men.” Men who want a family, a commitment: men who think it is only destiny to have a wife and kids to love and provide for. And she thinks there are just plenty of them, the real men, waiting out there for a special someone, like myself. Now maybe there were never any “real men” out there. My mother was, and still is, a very attractive woman. Maybe her sheer cuteness attracted the cream of the crop to her in droves, so her view is skewed. Obviously she had no problem meeting men. Frankly, my father was lucky to have snatched her up from among his competitors. But enough about my mother…(who still puts in her “order” for twins even though I am single and have no prospects for a mate nor sperm donor lined up.)

Beauty: My Blessing and My Curse

Beauty: My Blessing and My Curse

By Heather LaFeber

Transforming from an ugly duckling in high school to a beautiful swan in college is not how they make it out to be in fairytales. Granted, the attention and free drinks were not without their charms at first. In fact, I craved the attention because it was new and exciting to me, completely different from the complete indifference I was treated with in high school. I could get whatever I wanted now, simply because of this wonderful blessing of attractiveness.

How Young is Too Young for a Hysterectomy?

How Young is Too Young for a Hysterectomy?

By Denise Kenney

On September 8th, 2008 I had a hysterectomy. I am 23 years old and by the graces of God had two beautiful girls with one ovary. They are the ages of 1 year and 2 months. My dr. tells me at my check up that I have been bleeding for 8 weeks (after having my second daughter) because there is still placenta in my unterous. The nurse proceeds to tell me that this is very rare in a c-section delivery. So they are now telling me i have to go have a DNC done.

Desperate Housewives!! Everyone Loves Bree

Desperate Housewives!! Everyone Loves Bree

By Lebo Nolan

I first came across ‘desperate housewives’ just after I got married. The name of this amazing series alone turned me off, but as I had nothing better to do that evening I sat in and witnessed one of the most spectacular acting yet.

Bree Van De Kamp , AKA Marcia Cross, drew me into the plot straight away, as she acted out one of the most convincing roles on TV to date. Yes I do believe there is a Bree in all of us , if not a Bree living next door. Just as with ‘Knots Landing’ and ‘Melrose Place’, this woman reclaimed her status once again as one of the most powerful leading actresses of all time. I am actually surprised she has not been selected of being a villain or baddy in one of the James Bond 007 movies.

Fashion for Real Women

Fashion for Real Women

By Renee Douglas

How many times have you looked at a magazine and saw some of the “fashions” that are in there and thought to yourself: “Where in the world would anyone wear THAT?”

Well if you’re anything like me – you ask that all the time!

I love fashion as much as the next woman, a gold dress that looks like it was previously balled up in the corner is not my idea of fashion - even if it’s Prada… (see picture).

Perfect Love?

Perfect Love?

By  Melissa Gonzalez

As children, we were quite often told we could be whatever we wanted. We could grow up to be a teacher, an astronaut, or even the late night sex therapist you see on those women’s television networks. Whatever we dreamt of surely became an object within grasp. Although, while the professional or even material milestones are always obtainable, why were we never warned that in love… we aren’t always allowed to have what we want?

I’m Getting Older and I Have the Same Problem

I’m Getting Older and I Have the Same Problem

By Vladlena Nyzhnik

I am getting older and I have the same problem as many women all around the world. I have gained so much weight! I need to lose at least 20 lbs to be in a normal shape.

First of all, I do not believe in the drugs. I am sure that all drugs have side effects. I used some diets. But it is well known that we can use the diet only for a period of time.
