Top Five: Pretty flat shoes at a discount in the Schuh summer sale

Top Five: Pretty flat shoes at a discount in the Schuh summer sale

I thought I'd bought all the flat pumps I'd need for the warmer months until I saw what's available in the Schuh summer sale. There's lots of shoes perfect for the season: colourful and a bit whimsical, perfect to perk up a plain dress or jeans. At £10-£20, we've got a mix of open-toe and traditional ballet-style flats, one with just a touch of a heel for those of you who find completely flat shoes a challenge. A girl ...

Wayne is the winner of Project Catwalk 2007

Catwalk Queen congratulates Wayne Aveline, the winner of Project Catwalk 2007. The final of season two of Project Catwalk on Sky One aired this evening, so we got to see the finalists' twelve-piece collections in all their glory.

Wayne chose a monochrome colour palette, very in-keeping with this season's trend for black and white. As well as chic and glamorous silks and satins, his collection included a painted aluminium-panelled corset, and an aluminium over-dress as the finale.

The use of metal ...

Project Catwalk 2: wedding dresses and the final three

Project Catwalk 2: wedding dresses and the final three

Time for an update on what's happening with the current crop of designer hopefuls in Project Catwalk season two. This week saw the designers embark on one of the toughest challenges yet: the wedding dress. Not only did they have the usual ridiculously short amount of time in which to make it, this dress would be deciding which of our four remaining designers would make it into the final three to create a collection for London Fashion Week and ...

‘Modvog’ retro bag from John Fluevog

I've just been singing the praises of some unusual John Fluevog shoes over on Shoewawa, and while noodling around the Fluevog site I came across this retro style 'Modvog' bag. The richly-coloured leather has stitch detail at the corners and a striped insert accent that's actually made of elastic...

Accessorize cut-out flap bag

The first thing I thought when I saw this bag from Accessorize was, 'inspired by Lara Bohinc'. Not that her bags look much like this, but the metal cut-out detail on the flap is rather reminiscent of her jewellery...

Emilio Pucci girly silk dress

After decrying cutesy-ness over on The Bag Lady today, I'm now giving Catwalk Queen readers a great big bundle of cute in the form of this silk dress from Emilio Pucci. The pattern's not quite as swirly as one usually thinks of as 'Pucci' being more stylised floral...

Felted lambswool ‘Blossom’ handbag from Into

Now I'm not usually one for hearts on things. They're often featured in a really obvious way and look way too cutesy. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, they're absolutely everywhere (just take a look at the Valentine's lingerie at a store near you), and so often they make the item in question just look tacky. Not so this gorgeous, snuggly-looking felted lambswool 'Blossom' handbag...

Floral print spring coat from Boden

As unlikely as it first sounds, spring is great for coats. We can finally wear all those impractical lightweight-but-really-pretty pieces of outerwear that we buy because we fall in love with the form, rather than the function...

Laura Ashley cutwork belt

I really like belts with a bit of delicacy about them. Don't get me wrong, a good chunky statement belt looks great, but it's also nice to have a few belts in your wardrobe that enhance an outfit more subtly. One of my current favourites would have to be this blue and silver cutwork belt from Laura Ashley (£18)...

Vintage lace clutch from aGaiN NYC

As well as enjoying the fabulous style of vintage clothes and accessories, it's also great to reuse fabric from an environmental perspective. So, being green doesn't have to mean looking like a yoghurt-knitter, instead, you could carry this sweet little lace-covered hard case clutch...

Leaf print holdall from Dorothy Perkins

I don't know if it's just the appealing shape, or the promise of travel that really draws me to holdalls. They just seem exciting, like you've had to throw a quick (but perfect) wardrobe together before jetting off on your next glamorous last-minute adventure. This green leaf print holdall from Dorothy Perkins is calling to me in come hither, let's-go-on-a-girly-spring-trip, tones...

Alexander McQueen butterfly gown

They do seem to make an appearance every spring, but this year they really are everywhere! I'm talking about butterflies of course, adorning everything from clothes to jewellery and accessories. Making a big butterfly statement...

Embroidered white clutch from Additions Direct

After writing about their oversized slouch bag yesterday, I was noodling around the rest of the new season's accessories at Additions Direct and discovered this hard case clutch. I know we don't really think of the inexpensive catalogue companies as being the first in fashion, but there's something really exciting about coming across a gem where you least expect it...

Additions Direct oversized slouch bag

I know that toting around a huge amount of unneccessary important stuff in a large bag isn't very good for our shoulders and backs, but when inexpensive oversized bags look so great, it's just too tempting. This oversized slouch bag from Additions Direct is a case in point...
