After decades of success in their day-time drama line-up, ABC has announced they're canceling "All My Children" and "One Life to Live."
According to a release on ABC.com, the final episode of "Children" will air in September of this year, followed by the last episode of "Life" in January 2012.
"All My Children" has been on the air since 1970, and "One Life to Live" since 1968. Combined, the shows have aired about 20,000 episodes... amazing, isn't it?
If you're a fan, and are worried about how the series will both end, don't fret. The ABC statement addresses this concern:
To honor the core, passionate audience and their rich history with our soaps, "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" will conclude each series in a manner that respects their legacies and the longstanding hopes of many of their viewers.
Replacing the soaps will be two new shows, "The Chew" and "The Revolution." As more details become available, we'll let you know... stay tuned!
