Watermelon is the original summer food. It’s packed with vitamins, it’s cool and it’s super hydrating. Dig in for a tasty, refreshing treat: yum!

Pop a few bananas in the freezer in preparation for a scorching day. When you take them out, they’ll be cold and crunchy and totally delicious. This is a super alternative to ice-cream ladies, and it’s chock full of potassium and a whole bunch of other nutrients.

This is a great refreshing between-meals snack. Try to get those super-small rounded carrots – they taste so good! Humus is full of proteins and carrots are a great source of B vitamins so while you’re filling up, your body will be thanking you!

Smoothies are a great way to eat in the summer. Simply add crushed ice, natural yoghurt, frozen berries and a banana to the jug attachment of your blender and whiz for about thirty seconds. The result is a filling, fruity variation on the milk-shake that's full of vitamins to keep your body looking and feeling great.

Pour your own blend of 100% pure fruit juice – no added sugars or colours allowed here girls – over a glass full of well crushed ice. I recommend orange and strawberry – sounds weird; tastes amazing!

7

Fat Free Natural Yoghurt and Honey

This is a simple, easy and super low-fat snack. It’s sweet and a little zingy, and it gives you just the right energy boost you need to combat that mid-afternoon crash. Use it to replace the bag of chewy gums you’d ordinarily eat, or that bar of chocolate.

8

Popcorn

There’s nothing worse than greasiness sizzling on your food in the heat. Instead of filling up of oily crisps, switch to pop-corn, very lightly salted and made without any butter (try it in the microwave to avoid a burnt pan).

Tomato, Rocket and Feta Salad

This quick, simple and refreshing salad is fab doused with a little balsamic vinegar. It’s spicy, juicy and salty all at once; use very fresh rocket to ensure that satisfying crunch and go for little cherry tomatoes on the vine. These tend to be tastier and sweeter, and make prep time even shorter!

So there we have it ladies; a list of 9 healthy summer snacks. They’re tasty and refreshing but they won’t pile on the pounds. What are your thoughts? Do you have any other ideas to add? Let me know; I’d love to compare notes!

On #9 I would say mozzarella more so then feta! But hey that's just me! And Basil > lettuce. Maybe its that Italian attraction I have......hmm..... -giggle-

I would have to disagree with fat free yogurt. The reason being, is when you buy foods that are fat free that means it has more sugar, which will spike you insulin and make you store fat. So the better choice would be low fat yogurt with raw honey. Raw honey is also better than regular processed honey.

oh this post is making me go down the stairs and rummage the fridge

Those are some refreshing guilt-free snacks to stack up on, this summer!! :)
