8 Tips for Flattering Your Face ...

There are lots of things you can do to make your face look its best. I'm obsessed with this topic because I have a round little face, and certain things make it look even rounder, and I am just not down with that. I don't like that in my Kool-Aid. So, I searched out 8 tips for flattering your face that really helped me – and I hope they'll help you too!

Know the Shape of Your Face

This is the most important. You have to know the shape of your face. Is it heart shaped or oval? Is it round or square? Faces can even be rectangular. Knowing the shape of your face will have an impact on all the following tips, so you need to be sure from the get go.

2

Haircut

Once you know the shape of your face, you'll have a better idea of what haircuts will work for you. For instance, this round face right here? It cannot carry off super short hairstyles. I know. I tried. I attempted to work a femme faux hawk once, as I think I have shamefacedly mentioned before, and it did not work. Like, by any stretch of the imagination. I can't do really long hair either, it just weighs the whole face down.

Hair Color

Hair color can be very flattering – or very not. If you're very, very pale and not a natural blond, for example, then blond hair is probably going to wash out your skin, your eyes, et cetera. Certain shades of red will look gorgeous, however, and dark brown can make pale skin and pale eyes really pop. There are certain shades of darker skin that can rock literally any color, from black all the way to platinum, and gold tones have their choice of the color spectrum as well.

Eyebrows

The shape and style of your eyebrows can also flatter your face. Here, it's probably a good idea to look at pictures and then talk to a professional, so you can know what looks good and what doesn't. If you have a wide or long forehead, thin brows aren't a good option, because they can disappear; ditto if you have fuller cheeks.

5

Blush

I didn't use blush for the longest time and now I can't live without it! Not only does it bring out your cheekbones, but it accents the contours of your face, and that is super flattering. Of course, you can't go overboard, and you need to know your skin tone, so you can pick the right shade.

Eye Glasses

You always have to be careful about choosing glasses. That can make or break your face – so to speak. If your face is very angular, you might want more rounded frames. A rounder face, however, can handle both subtle curves and straight lines. And as we can all plainly see, almost everyone looks good in emo frames.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are a little different. There are different styles to choose from, for one thing. For another, you can be a little wilder with them. This is why it's important to always try on different pairs before making a choice, though. Or pull a Cher (Clueless, not diva) and take pictures.

Necklines

Even the necklines of your shirts and blouses can make a difference. Turtlenecks are better for thinner faces, for instance, but if you have a round face – ahem – they really can make it look like your neck is blowing a bubble. Not cute.

I'm still trying to get the whole flattery thing down, but I know a lot more than I used to. Do you have any other tips? Which styles for the items mentioned here do you like?

The shape of your eyebrows can make a whole lot of difference all right

I have a hexagonal face with verrrrry broad jawline. Can anyone suggest me a haircut.

No one can figure out what face shape I have. It's like a weird combination of round and square, but not oval.
