8 Cool Ways to Wear a Scarf ...

A scarf is always an interesting, fashionable way to breathe new life into your single color outfit and, although some would say it doesn’t really give plenty of options for being creative, I’ll have to disagree. In fact, a scarf is the most fun of all your accessories because, unlike bags, hats and belts that have no alternative uses, a scarf can be combined in millions of ways! And these are just some of them:

Boho Chick

There are plenty of ways to use your long scarves to reflect this popular laid back style. The first and the easiest one to do is to wrap your scarf starting from the front of your neck, cross the sides on the back, bring them up forward again and just leave them like that. You can also wrap it around your waist and give that baggy linen dress or tunic a more formfitting shape.

Stunning Cowgirl

This is a very popular way to wear a scarf these days and I’m not talking about girls only! I’ve seen a lot of guys wearing it too! You’ll need to fold your scarf to get a triangle, flip it downwards, like cowboys, cross the sides in the back and bring them forward. Don’t worry, you won’t actually look like you’ve just stepped out of a western movie. Your scarf is big enough to give you all those cool layers and creases and, if you ask me, this is a perfect accessory when you want to wear jeans, boots and a cool leather jacket. P.S – Don’t forget the shades either! Wayfarers or Aviators, the choice is yours!

UPD:

Effortlessly chic yet rustically whimsical, the cowgirl knot showcases the scarf as more than a simple accessory; it becomes a statement piece. Whether you're roaming city streets or attending a festival, this style adds an extra edge to any outfit. It pairs beautifully with denim, channeling that intrepid spirit, yet it's versatile enough to elevate a casual t-shirt or complement a flowy boho skirt. And here's a fun tip—experiment with different textures and patterns to make your ensemble pop. Plaids or paisleys can really accentuate that frontier flair without going full-on cowboy.

Vintage Diva

An everyday version of a little black dress, huge vintage shades and a silk scarf to match! Combining these three things I’m positively sure you have in your closet will make you feel like Sophia Loren and the best thing about it is that you don’t have to spend a lot of time fixing your hair! Just put it up in a bun, pin the center of your scarf to it, bring the ends forward, cross them and toss them back. If the scarf is long enough you can wrap it around your neck two times – it will help tighten it up so you won’t have to fix it every few minutes.

Fashionista

But what if you don’t want to actually WEAR a scarf? No problem! That still doesn’t mean you have to leave it at home! Tie it on your bag and join the army of ladies who have figured out alternative ways to use their scarves. If you have a short scarf to use a simple knot on the center will do just fine. However, if all of your good scarves seem too long to put on a bag, fold them and tie a bow. All done!

Romantic Layers

If you like to layer your clothes and add romantic elements to your everyday style, you can always find your own way to wear a scarf. How about simply looping it around your neck, letting the ends fall loose in front and then fixing them there with the help of a matching belt? Designers say this is the way to go!

Turban Style

Turbans were very popular in late 80’s and early ’90 and, since shoulder pads and poufy sleeves have already made their grand comeback, it was only the matter of time when turbans will do that too. Well, according to H&M’s new spring/summer lookbook, it’s time to start digging through your mom’s closet! Or even better, browse the tutorials on how to braid your scarf into a turban and use this trick whenever you’re having a bad hair day.

Enchanting Gypsy

Here’s a popular summer style I’m sure you’ve either seen or tried out before. I really love it because it enables you to actually look stylish and keep your hair under control on the beach. But that’s not all! Keeping your hair tucked inside a scarf will minimize the sun’s damaging effects so you won’t have to schedule an urgent haircut the moment you come back from your vacation.

A big, square scarf can be your headwear, beach cover up, summer top, great addition to a long gypsy-style skirt and, in times when you feel extra creative, you can use it to make your old dress look like a brand new one. I often use scarves to hide the fact that some of my strapless dresses don’t fit so great in the top. I center it on my back, cross the sides on the bust and finish by tying the sides on the back of my neck. An elastic belt is there to keep it in place and voila! Take one simple tube dress throw in a few different scarves and you’ll have a new dress every time!

Yup, a scarf is the IT item for the season so, if you don’t have any, have this post in mind next time you go shopping. What do you think - which one of these ideas could be an ideal one for you?
