If you take precautions to not show them the road, then they can be scared of it. If you're dog roams near the road and likes chasing cars, you need to know this needs to be corrected. They will get lost or hurt if you don't teach them to sway away from this habit. First off, to avoid this never show them the road. Take them on walks in the backyard or sidewalks. Also, leash train them. To fix this problem, you need to show them the road is bad. It will be hard to teach them, but it needs to be done.

When you leash train them, they will avoid running outdoors without a leash. You need to teach them to grab the leash before going outdoors. Most breeds will learn to do this, but some will be stubborn. This also teaches them that you’re the owner of them and you're the boss.

For little dogs no bigger than a large poodle needs a fence for the back yard and front. The bigger the dog the more chances the dog will jump the fence or dig under the fence. Some even break the fence. That’s why you need to get a well built fence that can be repaired or stop them from digging or jumping. Fences are perfect for dogs that need their energy knocked down.

Today, welders from all over the world make large pins for many animals. We don't mean the small pens you put dogs in to create train, but the big ones that have roofs and go outdoors. The bigger the dog the more reinforced the metal should be. They all will try to get out and often pull the fence apart. Good for all dogs to keep them in your yard.
