Here are the 7 things that working out has taught me… read on!

I Have a Great Body

I started working out in earnest because bikini season was approaching, and I always loathe how I look in a swimsuit. While working out did help me tone up a few stubborn spots, overall, my body looks pretty much the same — but working with it has made me appreciate it more, and for the first time in my entire adult life, I think I have a great body.

I Have Stamina

Who knew? I may not be able to run a marathon, or even a half-mile, but I can complete an hour-long work out, even though it’s hard and I sometimes don’t want to. I can play with my six-year-old and chase her around the yard without collapsing… I have stamina!

I Am Strong

I may not be able to do a pull-up unassisted, but I am strong, and I’m getting stronger all the time. I’m not some muscle-bound creature, but I do have tone and shape, and I’m proud of my strength.

When I see someone using the equipment or doing an exercise incorrectly, I can offer assistance instead of just thinking “they’re doing it wrong!” in my own head. That’s what I would want someone to do for me! Why bother working out if you’re not going to do it right? That’s why we’re all ay the gym, after all.

Sweating is Good

I was raised thinking that girls, or really anyone, shouldn’t sweat. It was uncouth, repulsive. But you know what? One of the first things my personal trainer taught me was that unless you’re sweating, you’re not getting a good work out. So now I know — sweating is good! And if I go into the locker room misted in sweat, and panting from exertion, I’m happy.

To give oneself earnestly to the duties due to men, and, while respecting spiritual beings, to keep aloof from them, may be called wisdom.

I Have Boundless Energy

Who wants to come home from work and sit on the couch? Not me! I’ve got so much more energy now that I’m into a work-out routine. After work, I still have four hours of life to live!

What I Eat Matters

If I’m eating poorly, I’m not able to work out properly, and that’s just one way I’m hurting my body. I feel better, worlds better, when I’m eating the right way. And I look better, too!

These are just a few of the things that working out has taught me, and I’m so glad I know these things! This bikini season, I may not look like a Victoria’s Secret swimsuit model, but I love my body, and my energy! What has working out taught you? Please share with me!
