5 Practical Tips on Dry Skin Care …

3.  Use oatmeal soap …

If your skin is dry and irritates easily, try to cut back on the amount of time you bathe or shower – some dermatologists even suggest spending no more than three minutes a day in water! Use the mildest soap available and do not overdo it – use soap every other day only. Scrubbing is usually not recommended for dry skin. Instead, once a week use a mild oatmeal soap, which will gently exfoliate your skin without causing irritation.

After bathing or showering, do not rub your skin with a towel, instead, softly pat it dry. Apply a natural oil or butter when the skin is still moist, and pay the most attention to your lower legs where skin tends to be the driest.

4.  Include good oils into your diet …

If your skin or scalp develop dry, irritated, itchy spots, do your best to avoid scratching. Apply shea butter or coconut oil several times a day and try to prevent water from splashing on irritated areas. Dry skin is also prone to eczema and other uncomfortable skin conditions. A good preventive measure is to augment your diet with essential oils contained in raw organic butter, cod liver oil, Omega-3 eggs, coconut oil, and fresh cold-water fish.

5. Use a humidifier …

In cold and dry winter months, consider investing in a humidifier and placing it in your bedroom or other apartment area where you spend a significant amount of time. The additional moisture in the air will help your skin condition improve almost immediately.

I like the humidifier pig, it’s so funny and cute( i like pigs), but anyway is good to have a humidifier in your home, it really helped me a lot. I have problem with respiration and with nose breathing and with humidifier in home all became better, cause air was soft:)

I use lotion on my hands and face every day, even in the summer. It’s great for my skin and keep my hands from getting too dry in the winter. Great post! :)

My sister has the hardest time to keep her hands moisturized during winter months, even though she tried so many different lotions and creams. Someone suggested to use something called “udder butter”. Did you ever hear about it? Does it really work? It sure does not sound too appealing!

The only thing that helps with my reptilian like skin in the winter is E Burnham’s Shea butter. My husband also developed major dry patches on his elbow that nothing would help, that is until I used their Shea butter on his elbows. That helped us both alot and it smells great too. Check out their website. I also get lip session from them which is no longer sold in stores which helps with dry lips and cold sores.

      Priya,
Wax all that unwanted hair away and try cocoa butter. I tried it one winter long ago and have never turned back. It’s great for all skin types!

      Hey Sonia,
Waxing, threading, hair removal creams, bleaching (although personally I don’t see the point) and if it’s really bad laser hair removal! Thankfully, we live in an era that offers plenty of choices for unwanted hair!

      Hi Sumana,
Please try the tips in the post for dry skin. As for your dandruff, here are some home remedies that I found online:
*Immerse peels of lemon in coconut oil for 8-10 days and leave in the sun. Drain and apply on hair.
*Mix beetroot juice in vinegar and apply on the scalp. Ginger juice and beetroot juice mixed together and applied on the scalp are also beneficial.
*Mix 2 tablespoons of fresh apple juice to 2 tablespoons of warm water, apply on hair, rub, leave for 10-15 minutes and then rinse. Repeat this process 2-3 times a week to get rid of dandruff.

Do try them out and let us know if it worked! Good luck!

I’ve been using Palmers Cocoa Butter formula (whatever it’s called)for my hands but it hasn’t been working for me, despite its shea and cocoa butter ingredients.

      Hey Sijan,
Looks like you just have dry skin. Have you tried natural remedies like almond oil and olive oil? Also a ripe banana mashed and applied on the face works great! Try these for a while and keep us posted on whether they worked.
      Thanks for visiting :)
