Travolta became a TV star and teen heartthrob playing Vinnie Barbarino on Welcome Back, Kotter back in 1975. He became an international celebrity thanks to star-making roles in Saturday Night Fever (1977) and Grease (1978).

After almost fading into oblivion during the ’80s, the role of Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction (1994) helped pave the way for Travolta’s star billing in Get Shorty (1995), Face/Off (1997), Swordfish (2001), and Be Cool (2005).

It’s been three decades since John Travolta became a household name courtesy of the hit ABC sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter. His film career got off to an incredible start when he won starring roles in what would become the cultural phenomenon of 1978. Travolta-mania reached its peak that year with the success of blockbusters Saturday Night Fever and Grease and their soundtracks. Travolta’s smiling face was soon on the cover of every major publication the world over.
