Hostel II takes gruesome graphics a step over the line

Take your kids to the theater to see the barnyard fable Charlotte’s Web and you might find yourself confronted in the lobby by a jolting new poster that is pure slaughterhouse — and the latest example of pop culture looking more and more like an autopsy photo.

The Beautynomist’s Resolutions for the New Year!

Hi everyone! Now that it’s the end of the year, and we’re saying hello to a new, and wonderful year, alot of things excite me!

I know, this year has been a blast! First, I was given a chance to blog about my thoughts on beauty, and reviews on various cosmetics and beauty products, and I also got to meet alot of people, co-beauty bloggers whom I adore for their kindness, as well as my readers who email me to ask for advise. It has never been so fulfilling to write about one’s thoughts and share them to the world.

Of course, writing wouldn’t be okay, if you don’t love what your writing. My favorite subject happened to be Beauty and Economics, boy o boy, I definitely maximized my utility! Whoopee!!

Thank you for all the companies who have emailed me for product reviews, thank you for my co-bloggers for brainstorming with me on which products worked for them or not, and thank you for friends who have always been there for me!

So many things to be grateful for, and so many things to look forward this 2007!

Okay, my resolutions? here they are!

1. Make my skin as perfect as possible - try to religiously go to the dermatologist until my skin clears up.
2. Faithfully stick to mineral makeup - I love mineral makeup to pieces! ( That explains my other blog! ) Mineral makeup is skin care makeup, so it would be a stepping stone for perfect skin.
3. Collect kabuki’s - boy oh boy am I addicted to such cute brushes! They are perfect for my mineral makeup application.
4. Focus on body care as well - since I have neglected this a little , I want to try to apply lotion once in a while until I feel like religiously applying it!
5. Try to sport a new hairdo. - Perms? more layers? bangs? Well, I don’t know, when I feel adventurous, I’ll dare to change my ‘do!

6. Get the MAC Holiday Brush Set next year! - I’m so all regrets for not being able to get it this year - I swear to get it next year!
7. Love myself a lil more - There’s no such thing as loving oneself too much right? Haha! So..I’m pampering myself to the nth power next year! I’ll try to tone down stress, and exercise! and of course, sleep early!
6. Try to help someone via makeover - This is my charity and help to the world!

What are your New Year’s Resolutions? I hope they include beautifying yourself more and more and more! But remember, real beauty is found inside the heart! So keep your hearts pure, and your faces clear!

Tata for now!

1969 : Jimi Hendrix's new band debuts

Jimi Hendrix's new group, the Band of Gypsies, debuts with its first album, Band of Gypsies. Hendrix's former band, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, had dissolved after several productive years together.

Hendrix was born in Seattle in 1942. He grew up playing guitar, imitating blues greats like Muddy Waters as well as early rockers. He joined the army in 1959 and became a paratrooper but was honorably discharged in 1961 after an injury, which ...

First Day in Ho Chi Minh City aka Saigon

Sorry no pictures, or even any links yet. But here are some first impressions:

Arriving at night the city is balmy and buzzing with motorcycles, scooters and people everywhere. But there is a calm purposefulness about it all. Everyone we meet is polite and soft-spoken.

First day after a breakfast of pho with a view overlooking the Saigon river, we walk from the Hotel Majestic to the Ben Thanh market. Crossing the street to enter is a harrowing experience! You can’t wait for traffic to die down because it never does. You just have to plow ahead in an act of utter faith or stupidity.

The market is crammed with stalls and vendors selling everything from clothes and shoes,”madam, madam, I have your size!” to bars with just one specialty–bun noodles or banh mi or something else. Glasses of exotic looking colored drinks have noodles and polka dots and who-knows-what floating or sinking in them, all day glow colors. Tons of beautiful fresh fish and enormous prawns and lobsters, mostly live and thrashing about, I actually saw what looked like a catfish getting away (!) I’ve taken tons of pictures and hope to get them up soon, I’m sure the folks there thought I was crazy for taking pictures of bowls of rice but there they were like bulk bins at a supermarket but all rice, maybe 15 different kinds of white rice. It is truly a different and fascinating world.

Happy New Year from Saigon!

New Year’s Resolution of a Mineral Makeup Addict

New Year’s Resolution of a Mineral Makeup Addict

Photo : Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup

Hi everyone! It’s been a long time since I posted, sorry for the circumstances that unabled me to posts. I still have reviews to post, and brands to feature, and they will all be done during 2007 already. Well, as the year ends, I reflect, that this has been one of the best years of my life, because I have discovered mineral makeup.

Some people might think it’s shallow, but for me , it’s definitely not. Mineral makeup brought about many positive things in my life. It shattered all my walls of insecurity inside of me, and brought out a new, confident, and happy me - someone happy with oneself. Mineral makeup can certainly do wonders! No more sad faces, and frustrations on getting the right shade. No more too much spending on makeup ( boy, they are economical! ). No more ” would this work?” worries, and no more worries of a wrinkly face for tomorrow or more breakouts. Mineral makeup, liberated me. And I think , that it has liberated and changed alot of women.

I do not feel self conscious anymore, and feel so beautiful everyday with it on, as my skin begins to improve as I momentarily cover it with such flawless finish, that no one ever knows my lil secret with my skin, and they might never know my skin problem because mineral makeup helps my skin heal by not contradicting the healing process of skin care - mineral makeup, is skin care makeup!

And just a weird thought, someone really oughta write a Psychology paper on how mineral makeup affects women. Because really, it does. I am one living proof that mineral makeup can change a person - in a very very positive way. Positive vibes are shooting and radiating from inside of me, and I am already a changed person, ready to face the world, and preach to the world how much I love mineral makeup! They say that 80% of women in this certain country don’t think that they’re beautiful, well, I’m one less of them. And certainly, mineral makeup girls like me feel the same way, I bet!

So, what are my New Year’s Resolutions?

1. Try more mineral makeup brands! No rehab for me, happily! No one’s taking away my happy pill!
2. Find more friends to preach the word of mineral makeup to. Maybe I can help save the world by doing this!
3. Do more makeovers to friends who would want to be dazzled by mineral makeup. Gosh, generosity at its best!
4. Research more on mineral makeup brands and its ingredients - gotta be keen on ingredients!
5. Try to make my own mineral makeup! - well, let’s see! Haha!

Happy New Year, Everyone!

Fekkai Advanced HairCare MORE Kit

We remember watching a show with a top stylist saying that if you really want great benefits from a shampoo, buy one that is marked for dry, damage, burnt, fried, run over, dead, frizzy - you get the drift - hair.
Basically, buy shampoo that is made for the worse of hair conditions, and you’ll really [...]
