11 Warning Signs of Suicide ...

Suicide is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Although teenage suicide is the kind we hear most about, a lot of adults also die by their own hands. There are many reasons that can lead a person to commit suicide; some mundane and some so deep that only the person can actually understand. Although you can’t fully know what goes on in someone’s mind, you can recognize their behavior and, to some extent, their emotions and reactions. Suicidal people exhibit signs of their desire or intent to commit the fatal act. You should watch out for these warning signs.

People with suicidal tendencies often engage in unnecessary risks. You would think that they have a death wish. (Sadly, they actually do.) Some examples of destructive behavior are increased drug or substance use, unsafe sex, reckless driving, eating disorders, and being in an abusive relationship. They generally are not afraid of dangerous situations.

Isolation and Withdrawal

You should never ignore suicide threats, no matter how casually or jokingly they’ve been said. People who commit or attempt suicide often talk about it before actually doing it. Don’t ignore someone who talks about suicide or dying especially if they are depressed, feeling anxious/agitated, or helpless/hopeless.

Books and Internet Searches

Sense of Calm

When suicidal people finally make that decision to take their own life, they will feel a sense of calm and peace. You will notice this as a sudden and unexplained happiness after a long period of depression or anxiety.

Suicide, no matter how many times you hear about it, can hurt and ruin the lives of the people left behind. Suicidal people do not want to die, although this is what their words would lead you to believe. They are hurting and just want the pain, guilt, or anxiety to stop. They turn to suicide because their coping mechanisms outweigh the negative emotions they feel. You can help prevent suicide by recognizing the signs. Be sincere and do not pass judgment. Offer your love, support, help, and understanding. Hopefully, you can convince them to get professional help.

ehh. i have a lot of these. i'm not suicidal though. i think for me, i just know that life isn't forever. my brother died last year unexpectedly and now i try to keep myself prepared for whenever i die or someone else i love dies. kind of an obsessive compulsive thing almost.

I'm only 13...I do almost all these things. I have attempted 7 times...I may sound cheesy here but its true that the reason why I stopped is because I'm waiting for the guy I'm in love with who lives 2 hours away and is 5 years older. I know it sound dangerous. I don't care anymore. If he hurts me, he's what saved me. Without him there would be no me. So there it is. I think about it all the time, but like Taylor, I have hope. I have something I'm waiting for and I intend on getting it. For everyone else out there dealing with depression, good luck,m and I may never know you but I love you <3 Stay strong <3 Love, Coby <3

My friend killed himself a year ago in august. I can't tell you how many times I tried to kill myself life goes on with or without me.

I have all of these. I was depressed, and therapy is not an option for me. I got over my depression by holding on to something. Hope. I know it's cheesy, but it's so true. Having hope is so important, mostly for people that are suicidal.

The first six or so can simply be summed up as signs of clinical depression... or dysthymia. But if you know anyone that displays such behaviour, HELP THEM. Depression can and WILL wreck your mind, soul, body and life like no other. If you don't know how to help, search "how to help someone with depression". Don't let it end badly. Please.

OMG! I need counciling..........all the points matched but I dont want to be died.

Talk about it is not a sign, no talking to anybody is one. Also giving away things and getting a new sshorter hairstyle. Thinking about dead but not talking about it. And if all match but you dont want to die, you are not feeling suicidal, but maybe you should talk about it. Talk about your problems helps in the 85% of cases
