6. Rowing …
Calories Burnt: 500 – 600 cals/hr
Rowing is a brilliant way to tone your arms, and is also very good fun. Get involved with the local rowing club and you’ll get to try it for free, or simply use the rowing machine at the gym. As well as building arm muscle, you’ll also burn calories and get an incredible workout.
7. Walking …
Calories Burnt: 360 cals/hr
The easiest exercise, brisk walking is a great cardio workout and will also help to tone legs, stomach and hips. Sprinting, walking across hills or walking uphill will add to the amount of calories burnt, and walking tends to be very easy to fit into daily life. Just walking to the train station has made me so much fitter, and it really wakes me up going for a brisk walk in the morning.

8. Dancing …
Calories Burnt: 600/800 cal/hr
This targets all over your body, and is an excellent work out. I frequently put a music channel on and dance around, as well as burning calories I also find that it’s a great stress reliever! Just make sure you stay active, and try and keep going for at least an hour!
If you want to learn some new sexy moves while you are at it, you might want to check out Dancing DVDs reviewed in this post: Do Your Dance Moves Need A Makeover?
9. Exercise DVDs …
Calories Burnt: 300/500 cals/hr
While these come under a lot of different headings, some exercise DVDs do actually help you to lose weight and tone up. Find a high energy one, and try and do it once a day. As well as burning calories and toning up, you’ll also feel much fitter. My personal favourite is “Pump It Up”, because the music keeps me motivated!
10. Horse Riding …
Calories Burnt: 200-600 cal/hr
This one may be slightly harder to arrange, but going horse riding once a week is one of the best ways to stay fit, healthy and enjoy nature. The view from up there is so amazing, you won’t notice that your toning your bum, abs and thighs, and burning calories while your at it! You’d be surprised at how cheap it can be to arrange a session once a weekend, and if your feeling extra fit you could even cycle to the stables!

I find swimming the most effective. And it helps to get rid of cellulite too …
Walking is a great way start, and it’s something we all should do more of in every day life. I take the stairs instead of the elevator as often I can!
I also enjoy running, since it burns fat faster and I get in shape quicker.
I don’t think riding horses help any. I ride horses 4-7 hours a day 4-5 times a week and yet I am still having weight problems. Within that day I am also lifting weights(20lb-50lb) and walking a fair amount. Is there a way that I can make my horse riding any more effective?
Makana, you can combine those exercises with a healthy diet. If you already are eating a healthy diet, you just keep doing both. Eventually, you will lose weight.

BISCUIT!
:)
Horseback riding is a great exercise. I always rode when I was younger & into my teens. After I moved away from the ranch and did not ride I began gaining weight. I have now started riding again, and combined w/a healthy diet, I am finally starting to lose the weight again. Plus it is so much fun, it does not feel like you are “exercising.” I think you’re tips are great Kati. And for anyone that does not think they work obviously they are not eating right, because if you are you should eventually start losing weight.
bicyling is great ! but will it make my legs become bigger and stronger ?
to Kate:
I love bicycling myself, but I don’t think it’ll make your legs look bigger unless you start taking Protein and practice 8 hours a day :))
I am sure it’ll help you lose some weight and tone your abs, butt and legs – tone, not make them bigger, no worries :)
Have fun bicycling! :)
i always exercise using (exercise tv) they hae lots of aerobics video’s
Do they really burn 800 calories an hour cause on my ipod i have this exercise thing and it says aerobics burns 475 cal/ hour
I hope that my ipod is wrong.
to Chasity:
It probably depends on the aerobics :) But I’d count on 650 cal (that’s neither, nor…)
i can burn 1500 calories in 20 minutes
ride bicycle at gym at highest level 2 minute fast and in minute slow and see the results i actually did that
hi im jessica im 10 i wana lose wheat or go on a diet but i not sure of my mom and dad will get mad
jessica
to Jessica:
Well, I think it’ll all depend on how you put it. See, if you explain to your parents that you want a healthy diet, than there won’t be any disagreement. If you tell them, that, as a grown up person you want to start making healthy choices in food to maintain the good health and avoid health problems in the future, they’ll totally be on your side. But you should understand, that a good diet means having 5 small meals a day, 3 of which should have proteins (white meat or eggs or fish), plenty of fruit and veggies, whole wheat bread only, 8 glasses of water and no sodas, or junk food of any sort. This way you’ll lose weight the healthy way and you’ll keep it that way for good.
It will be also great if you exercise every other day too…
to Harmanjeet:
Wow, that’s a great tip, thanks for sharing! I started sprinting for short distances – 2-3 with an interval of 1 minute to catch my breath, works wonders, everything hurts :))
Thanks!
