10 Christmas Shopping Do’s and Don’ts

10 Christmas Shopping Do’s and Don’ts

Christmas shopping don’ts:

1. Avoid weekends

If you want to avoid bumping shoulders with every other shopper then go shopping on a weekday – preferably in the morning. Salespeople are a lot friendlier when they don’t have a crowd to handle.

2. Don’t limit your choice

So you’ve made a list of items to be bought, but you can’t find one or two. What do you do? Plan for this in advance by writing a back up gift option on your list. This will save you a lot of time especially if you’re shopping for a large number of people.

3. Don’t lose receipts

Save all the receipts from your Christmas shopping expedition. You may need it later, when your gift turns out to be faulty or has a missing part. Your gift recipient will be glad you can get a replacement.

4. Don’t wrap right away

Check your item thoroughly before you thrown on the fancy wrapping paper. Also remember to remove the price tag and other purchase particulars.

5. Don’t wait

Christmas shopping doesn’t need to be restricted to December. Shop when something catches your fancy. You can store it away for Christmas day!

And most important Do:

Another BIG Christmas DON’T? Please don’t gift a plastic surgery procedure or treatment. Think it’s a joke? Lexus runs commercials this time of year showing people giving luxury cars and SUVs as gifts, big red bows and all. Someone must be buying them. And you can’t turn on the TV without seeing some diamond commercial. Someone must be buying them. And I work with a plastic surgeon who specializes in everything from BOTOX Cosmetic to tummy tuck in st louis, and I tell you, people want to gift plastic surgery. It’s a growing trend, and one that’s neither good for the industry or for prospective patients. Receiving this sort of gift immediately makes one wonder what’s wrong with them and also, because they want to make the person happy who obviously spent so much money, the receiver will often discount risks. Don’t do it. Make them something.

Making use of these Christmas shopping “don’ts” would leave the shopper not noticing any of the hustle-and-bustle of the shopping season. It would make the whole process a relaxing ordeal. This would be beneficial for some, but others would want to take part in their usual procedure of rushing through time to get a certain item or two.

Christmas is def a holiday where you want to make sure you get a quality gift. I was at one store yesterday trying to find an ornament for someone special and I couldn’t believe the poor quality at that one store. But I know where I def will be going because I found great ornaments there last year! Great list…Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! :)
